Registration will be open from 10am – 5pm on Sunday. We will kick off our Regional with a German fest Welcome Party in the evening.
In the morning, we will head to Shawnee for a tour of Old Shawnee Town 1929, that replicates Shawnee businesses in 1929. The admission price includes lunch. After lunch, we will drive to the living museum at the Mahaffie House, a stagecoach stop on the Santa Fe Trail. You can take a ride on the stagecoach, watch a blacksmith work, see a working frontier kitchen and visit their museum on the history of the Santa Fe Trail and Bleeding Kansas.
We will take a bus tour to the National World War I Museum in Kansas City, MO. This world class museum features artifacts and exhibits of the life of a WWI soldier in combat. After the WWI Museum, we will re-board the buses for a short trip through downtown to the City Market area for lunch on your own. While at the City Market, you can ride the free street car or visit the Steamboat Arabia Museum. There is also an open market and several fun shops in the area to visit.
Today is seminar day! Howard Denker will present two seminars for the men: Seminar #1 will be "Model A Ignition Keys and Popout Switches" and Seminar #2 will cover "Model A Door Handles, Keys and Locks." The ladies program will feature Debra Lucke-Beacher, tea specialist and owner of the Guilded Lily, a vintage and antique store located in Martin City. In the afternoon, everyone is welcome to take a local self-guided tour. After dinner, we will have Hubley Derby racing.
Today is the Grand Tour to Ottawa, KS. Price includes all of the following: First stop is the Read Tractor Museum, a collection of beautifully restored rare John Deere tractors. We’ll then drive into Ottawa for a BBQ lunch, visit the world’s oldest operating theater to view the movie “The Great Train Robbery”, and then on to the Old Depot Museum. A free evening to enjoy dinner at one of Overland Park’s great restaurants. The Regional Meeting will be held at the hotel after dinner.
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel in the morning and then come join us in the parking lot for car games! In the evening, we will celebrate a week of "Model A" fun and friendships at the closing banquet, where we will have a surprise guest speaker and trophies will be awarded.
